Baja Sur: Communication Means In Loreto :

Communication Means:

Similar to other towns in the state, Loreto has an important communication system infrastructure operating under the regulations established by the Ministry of Communications and Transports, such as telegraph, mail, telephone, fax, radio, and television, which meet the demands of local users and those derived from the tourism.

There is also a rural radiotelephone network making possible the integration of small communities in the municipality.

The opening of the VHBLS-FM radio station promoted by Promo-medios California, on June 25, 1997, was a significant event for the Loretians. The operation of this important means of communication joins the tasks performed by two radio stations in Ciudad Obregon in the State of Sonora, allowing the expansion of prospects for tourist promotion, contributing to the growth of the commercial and services activities, and offering an entertainment and recreation option to the inhabitants.

With respect to written media, it should be mentioned the work carried out by the media through the correspondents of the state newspapers. Among those El Sudcaliforniano and El Forjador stand out, also joined by local publications such as Loreto Avanza.

The inherent needs for Loreto's development as a tourist center gave way to the construction of an international quality airport. Its asphalted surface runway is 7,218 ft long and 148 ft wide. Aeromexico and Alaska Airlines are currently operating the international flights and Aero-litoral the regional ones. (Aerocalifornia was also operating not too long ago).
