Costa Loreto: Developing Projects You Want:

Loreto is an Integrally Planned Center (CIP, by its initialsin Spanish) developed by FONATUR? They put into practice an essential formula to create international-quality tourist destinations based upon a city evolution, they provide the infrastructure and services required to tend to both populations, permanent and temporary.

Loreto was conceived as a tourist corridor comprising 3 localities:

1. The town of Loreto
2. Nopolo (located 5 miles South of Loreto)
3. Puerto Escondido (located 17 miles South of Loreto)

The urbanization included highways to communicate Loreto efficiently, drainage and sewage systems, drinking water networks, aerial and underground electric networks, as well as an underground telephone network to allow the
permanent population and the tourists the enjoyment of every possible comfort, recreational sites and tourist'sservices.

 

In addition to the sun and the sand, the traditional attractions, Loreto has an 18-hole golf course, a tennis center, cave paintings, the scenic setting formed by the Sea of Cortes, the Sierra La Giganta and the desert; the striking basin of Puerto Escondido, which is a natural marina, as well as the traditional activities like sport fishing and yachting.

Loreto is part of the Sea of Cortes Nautical Route, which includes 27 ports of call, 21 integrally planned localities, like Loreto, 5 tourist corridors, and a land bridge to transport the vessels from the Pacific Ocean to the Sea of Cortes and vice versa. The project which comprises 5 Mexican states: Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora, Sinaloa, and Nayarit, intends to meet the demand for nautical tourism from California, Arizona, and Texas, representing 1.8 million vessels (14% of their total fleet).
