Costa Loreto:
Costa Loreto is situated on the northern edge of the town of Loreto. The development consists of 225 acres, with nearly a kilometer (2/3 of a mile) of beachfront, that has been owned by the family of the developer – a Mexican architect -- for more than 25 years. The centerpiece of the project will be its marina, and the developer has just received the required “concession,” a government license, to construct a marina within the project as one of the “steps” on the government-envisioned “Nautical Ladder.” Overall design of the project, from its physical layout to its sources of water and treatment and disposition of wastes, is being done in a way that will preserve the essence of the Loreto and beachfront experience as it is today, while making available the most modern facilities. One result of that commitment of the developer has been elimination of golf, which was featured in the original development plan, since golf courses demand huge amounts of water and water is a scarce commodity in the Loreto basin. Another is that the developer is working with other developers and local government to create a desalination facility to supply the needs of this project, other tourism and retirement projects, and the thousands of other long term residents who are expected to be part of the Loreto community as it evolves.
Surrounding the marina, which will be large enough for approximately 100 slips, will be shops and businesses of all kinds, and although the exact plan is flexible as of early 2007, it is envisioned to include a mix of a boutique hotel at the marina entrance, another hotel or hotels, condominium projects, and several neighborhoods of homes, duplexes and condos around a series of saltwater features (part of the mechanism for dispersing the brine byproduct of desalination, ecologically sound, and as a bonus, bug-free) and shopping and commercial areas. Like the rest of the project, the marina and its entrance from the Sea of Cortez are being designed to harmonize with the environment, impacting it as minimally as possible.
Two neighborhood areas are already developed or in the process of development as of early 2007. Los Cimarrones is an area of single-family lots on the waterfront, between the projected marina location and the town of Loreto. Most of the lots have been sold, with typical owners being American and Canadian retirees. Quality of the homes that have already been built or are under construction is very good.
Adjoining Los Cimarrones is a 3.6 acre parcel on which construction of the Villa Julieta neighborhood has begun. This will consist of approximately nine very high–quality single-family one-story homes, and 54 condominiums. The Villa Julieta homes and condos are designed to meet the high standards of design and quality of construction, features and finishes that have evolved in other markets, in particular the high end Los Cabos market, over the past decade. Individual units are now being offered for sale and preconstruction prices. Please see the detailed information on the homes and condos in Villa Julieta and our other neighborhoods, as well as information on the secure nature of real estate ownership by foreigners in Mexico now available and time tested, and the availability of financing from an American lender – all elsewhere on this site.
